Over the years, using Windows as my main operating system has its ups and downs, especially when Windows ME, Windows Vista, Windows RT, Windows 8 was the worst kind of operating system. Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 10 were amazing and very very stable. So why switch you say.
Windows 10 is something that I normally would use only at work just because of Microsoft Office 365 and software I normally use just seem to work better when using other operating system. The main problem with Windows 10 is, having to upgrade major releases every two years seems to be overkill but does deliver amazing functionality and new features each year.
Microsoft Edge is one of the features that you don’t like or like and if you’re one of the those people, I would recommend using Edge as your daily browser because for one, when you are logged into your outlook account for your Windows 10 and Edge, they will give you points/rewards when you do a search or do one of their quizzes, and it keeps adding up. I just received over 10,000 points and I just got myself a $10 Starbucks gift card and yes, it took awhile to get to 10,000.
One of the biggest problem I face when you have slow internet connection is the updates, and it is mandatory when it comes to Windows 10 because it is force update without you knowing and when you’re about to do some surfing, it slows down your connection. I had to sit and do so something else while waiting for the updates complete and the computer restarts and takes another few minutes to complete and so I can start using it again.
I guess the title should mention I still use Windows 10 but I do, I only ditched Windows personally when I am at home and currently I use my MacBook Pro and my Lenovo Y50-70 which is now running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS instead of Windows 10. As of right now, I prefer using Ubuntu as my main operating system because, I don’t have to worried about updates and security much as Windows, but I tend to keep my operating system clean when possible when I use a Mac, or Linux, or even Windows.
The only computer I have at home that is still running Windows is my Microsoft Surface Pro 4 which I really hesitated to change it to Ubuntu cause it is just too much trouble and plus I still have some software and office I still need to use. Also as a web developer personally, using Ubuntu seems more logical just because all servers that I have to deal with or have is also running Linux (CentOS) and it is more convenient to fix stuff and maintain and its more flexible.
